Round Rusty Red Natural Botswana Agate Wire-Wrapped Stone Pendant Necklace

A smooth, round, deep rusty-red piece of Botswana Agate without the characteristic banding, but with unique, extremely subtle color variation only visible in good light. Otherwise, the stone looks like a solid color of rich and rusty red.


The pendant is wrapped in 99.9% pure copper wire, bare and without any treatment or coatings.


**Because it's natural copper, you should definitely expect the wire to naturally oxidize and darken over time and for it to be darker when you receive the pendant, compared to the photographs in this listing.  


The stone measures approximately 3/4 inch long/tall and 5/8 inch wide. The pendant's total height is approximately 2 1/8 inches tall.


Includes a silky-satin black cord in your choice of two lengths: 18 or 24 inches. The metal clasp and chain portions of the cord are lead- and nickel-free.


Unlike this stone, Botswana agate usually displays highly defined parallel banding, usually in white, on hues of brown, gray, pink, tan, apricot and red.


Botswana agate belongs to the quartz family of the banded Chalcedony variety and is named after the country in Southern Africa where it is mined.


Botswana agate was formed nearly 187 million years ago by lava flowing in waves from long faults in the earth. This lava rolled across the landscape, depositing layer upon layer of quartz silicate to create the banding and patterns now prized in Botswana agate stones.
