The Dragon Blood Has Arrived!

I'd been waiting and waiting for the dragon blood stones to get here and was not disappointed. They are just so freakin' cool!
The recent winter storm delayed their delivery by days, but by-and-by, the UPS guy was finally able to stop and brave the treacherous 20 or so steps to our gate to alleviate my impatience.

Also called Dragon Stone, Dragon Blood Jasper, Dragonblood Stone, and Dragon's Blood Stone, dragon blood is a type of jasper, which means it is also a type of quartz.
The distinctive green color is from the epidote mineral, and the red color is from piemontite, also a member of the epidote group. Dragon blood stones are found in Australia and South Africa and are sometimes confused with Bloodstone, which is a totally different mineral.
In ancient times, Aborigine people believed that Australian dragons were responsible for the development of land, sea, animals, and man. These dragons were called “Rainbow Serpents” and could control the water. Dragon blood stone legends state that it is the petrified skin and blood of fallen dragons.
To many, dragons are promoters of justice and protectors of life. Dragon blood jasper’s deep green represents a dragon’s tough skin with a loving heart. The deep red represents the dragon's blood, igniting the fire within to increase physical strength, courage, confidence, endurance, and focus.
Dragon's blood is a stone of creativity, courage, strength and personal power; it's believed it can aid in the healing journey of self-discovery, and self-love.
The stones are believed by many to help bring the mind and body into a state of calm, to aid in setting and achieving goals, to ignite creativity, and in the pursuit to right all wrongs.
Its influence assists the body in the spiritual purification of the blood, and of the cells. It is a wellspring of Prana, and it can help believers find inner reset, so that the body and energy fields regain their resonance with a pattern of health, stability and emotional wellbeing. It is believed that the stone's influence works steadily rather than rapidly, like most jaspers, although the exceptional potency of Dragon's Blood makes it one of the most powerful and dynamic of the stones in this family.
It's been said that Dragon blood stone's special talent is in helping to change old, unwanted habits. The stone is reputed to help in developing self-confidence; a stronger will; the ability to express feelings and affection; a willingness to help others for the greater good; and the persistence required to make real and effective change for ourselves and the world around us.
Physically, the stone is believed by many to help with endurance, and the perseverance to achieve a healthy balance. This includes diet and exercise regimes for getting in shape or losing weight, or for reaching other challenging goals.
