My First Sale on This Site was a Dogtooth Amethyst Pendant (But Not This One)
Even though amethyst has been a favorite gemstone of mine since I was a young girl, before I got a batch of tumbled amethyst stones from one of my online sources last year, I had never seen dogtooth, otherwise known as sawtooth, amethyst. I was thrilled to see there were several of them mixed in with the I-guess-you-could-call-them regular amethyst pieces.

I think it's pretty obvious looking at them how they got those names, so I won't point out the obvious.
You may already know that amethyst is a type of quartz. It's basically lavender or purple quartz, but somehow it became its own type of gemstone. Maybe it got a big head because purple is such a cool color. I don't know. But I do know that the sawtooth patterns are made from clear quartz that gets formed into patterns within the lavender or purple quartz. It's cool stuff.
So, right after getting my batch of stones, I chose the biggest and coolest-looking piece of dogtooth and turned it into a pendant. (The one here, though, isn't the one I just mentioned. Confused? That's okay.)

It turned out to be my first sale on StoneMavenJewelry.com. More cool stuff.

The pendant featured here, however, IS available to buy right now, as of the day I published this post.
